End of Season 2015-16 events
We were honoured to be asked by Mayor, Chris Hogg, us to sing three items at the Annual ‘Mayor Making’ in May. This was also as a tribute to his fellow councillor John Mc Creesh, who had sung with us until his untimely death earlier in the year.
After the spring concert we enjoyed a relaxing few weeks singing some Folk songs: John Rutter’s ‘Sprig of Thyme’ in preparation for a short evening recital at Natland Church.
Our season certainly ended on a high note- sung by our conductor’s son Toby, as he hit a high C in the wonderful Allegri ‘Miserere’. An African chant got the audience smiling and it was an enjoyable hour of music finishing with a very beautiful Lauridsen piece.
We received great compliments from a former conductor Daphne Lester, who was in the audience and grateful thanks from all at Natland Church as the donations at the concert made over £1000 towards their tower appeal.
Our Season ended with a Dinner at Kendal College. We were superbly looked after by the young students and Graham Hedley the manager; and enjoyed a magnificent six course tasting menu. Kendal should be proud of such a fantastic teaching venue. It looks like becoming an annual event as we have booked next year’s end of season Dinner for Wednesday 17th May.
