TOUTES AURES and KENDAL CHORAL SOCIETY – 10 years of ‘Entente between 2003 and 2013’
Between 2003 and 2013 a happy series of coincidences led to a friendship between Kendal Choral and Toutes Aures, a choir from Voiron, near Grenoble in France.
During that time, the choirs performed a variety of works together in France and the UK, including ‘The Armed Man’, Faure: ‘Requiem’, Stainer’s ‘Crucifiction’, Puccini: ‘Messe Solonnelle’ and ‘Messe di Gloria’ as well as Handel’s ‘Dixit Dominus’ and Mozart: ‘Requiem’.
The 10th Anniversary of this link between the two choirs was celebrated in St Thomas Church, Kendal on Saturday 6th May 2013 with a performance of the same work, Handel’s ‘Messiah’. and concluded with a celebration dinner attended by the Mayor of Kendal.
The association was described by Alan Gardner, the former conductor of the Kendal choir as “a truly international musical experience”. It has certainly provided the beginnings of many lasting friendships.
