At the end of October 2005 the choir made its second visit to Voiron, near Grenoble, in France to renew acquaintances with the French choir Toutes Aures, and their conductor Genevieve Blayo. This was the fourth occasion on which the choirs have joined together. In May 2002, the choirs sang Faure’s Requiem and Stainer’s Crucifixion in Cartmel Priory and in October 2003 the first joint performance in France was Handel’s Messiah which drew an audience of 900! Earlier last year, Toutes Aures visited Kendal and performed Bernard Lallement’s ‘Missa Gallica’ in Kendal Parish church- a unique occasion with an orchestra combining classical and folk instruments. The two choirs performed Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Mozart’s Requiem in the beautiful 12th century church of Tullins with soloists from both France and England. As in all the previous concerts, the choirs were conducted by Alan Gardner.
